Scott Alving

It Figures Tax Services Inc was established in 2003 by Scott Alving. Scott is an Enrolled Agent* and graduated college with a BS in Accounting and Management. He has worked with a wide variety of clients such as landscapers, restaurants, contractors, dental & medical offices, a real estate attorney, churches/non-profits, and GLBT business owners.

Prior to opening It Figures Tax Services, Scott held positions as a staff accountant and controller for a BioTech company, utility management company, and a manufacturing plant. From 2003-2008, he owned and operated a retail store. That venture provided him with hands-on experience with operating a small business and in turn uses that in depth experience to help his clients run their business.

I spend about 40 hours a year attending various conferences and round tables that keeps me on the “leading edge” of the ever-changing tax laws.

I actually have real world idea what you are going through. Back when I had the retail store, some of the payroll tax forms never reached the IRS and 6 years later, they came looking for them. Yes, 6 years later. I did not have the records and the IRS had payroll tax money deposits but no tax forms to reconcile it. I had to recreate the tax forms and sent them in. They got their act together, but they assessed me around $25 for a non-filing penalty so I called and asked for an abatement of the penalties, they agreed and then I thought the issue was resolved. NOPE!! They were going to levy me and pull my Federal license. Since my license is issued by the US treasury/IRS, they had the ability to do so and over $25. So instead of fighting with them I paid them even though they said they would abate the penalty. That experience has taught me when to fight and when not to fight. I can bring this knowledge to the table and help you make sound decisions.
